Niger Sultana Joty to Captain Bangladesh Women
DHAKA, Bangladesh, CMC – Niger Sultana Joty will captain Bangladesh Women’s team when they embark on their first-ever tour of the Caribbean later this month.
Sultana was named to lead a 16-member squad that will play three ODIs and three T20Is against West Indies Women starting January 19. All matches are scheduled to take place at Warner Park in Basseterre, St. Kitts.
ODI Series Significance
The ODI series is significant as both teams aim to secure vital ICC Women’s Championship points, which will allow them to qualify directly for the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup in India.
Bangladesh currently sits seventh in the standings with 19 points, just outside the automatic qualification zone, while West Indies are in ninth place with 14 points.
