David Gail, star of the “General Hospital” spinoff “Port Charles” and “Beverly Hills, 90210,” died due to complications from sudden cardiac arrest, his rep told The Post.

A spokesperson for the 58-year-old actor told The Post Monday that Gail was found unresponsive by emergency personnel who then performed CPR and defibrillation on him.

Despite their efforts, Gail was put on life support where he remained for several days and was pronounced dead on Jan. 16.

His family has no reason to suspect the cause of his death was anything but heart failure, the rep said.

“We are extremely touched by the outpouring of love from David’s dedicated fans and colleagues,” his mom, Mary, said in a statement. “We are grateful for all the support received during this very difficult time.”

Gail is also survived by his son, Guthier, and his sister, Katie.

This comes hours after TMZ reported that Gail’s death was being investigated as a possible overdose, although the outlet claimed police were unclear about what alleged substances it could have been from.

Katie confirmed his death Saturday in an Instagram post, writing, “There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side.”

Gail portrayed Dr. Joe Scanlon for more than 200 episodes in “Port Charles.”

But he is perhaps best known for his role as Stuart Carson — Brenda Walsh’s (Shannen Doherty) one-time fiancé — on “Beverly Hills, 90210.”
