Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa, Bradley Chubb, Xavien Howard injured

BALTIMORE — Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa left Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens with a shoulder injury and did not return, as multiple Dolphins starters suffered injuries in the 56-19 blowout.

Tagovailoa appeared to favor his left shoulder late in the fourth quarter Sunday and received medical attention on the sideline. With the game out of reach, he was replaced by backup quarterback Mike White. Tagovailoa was limited in practice throughout the week with injuries to his left thumb and quad, although he didn’t have any injury designation entering Sunday’s game.

In his postgame news conference, Tagovailoa told reporters the “shoulder’s good. Just sore.”

After Tagovailoa left the game, Miami suffered another potentially critical blow when linebacker Bradley Chubb was carted off the field and into the locker room with a knee injury. Chubb leads the Dolphins with 11 sacks this season and took on a larger role after linebacker Jaelan Phillips tore his Achilles in Week 12.

Earlier in the loss, cornerback Xavien Howard exited with a foot injury and did not return. The Ravens immediately took advantage of his absence, with quarterback Lamar Jackson throwing for 321 yards and five touchdowns, finishing with a perfect 158.3 passer rating.

Howard suffered the injury in the first quarter, during Baltimore’s first offensive drive. He was taken to the locker room on a cart and ruled out after further examination.

The 2022 Pro Bowler has played in 13 of the team’s 17 games this season, recording 45 tackles, 12 passes defended and an interception.

Tagovailoa finished the day with 237 passing yards, two touchdowns and his first two interceptions since Week 12.

In Week 18, the Dolphins will meet the Buffalo Bills, with the winner capturing the AFC East title.
