The team, celebrated for their record-breaking performances, was greeted by Minister of Sports Olivia Grange, who hailed their achievements as proof of Jamaica’s enduring athletic dominance.
“I am so proud of them. What amazes me and inspires me is that we keep producing a cadre of young athletes who maintain the high standard for which Jamaica is known. Our future is great, our future is bright when it comes to track and field.”
Jamaica’s team rose to the occasion despite fierce competition and the pressure of performing on rival soil. Assistant coach Kirk King acknowledged the challenges but praised the athletes’ resilience.
“It was a challenging meet. They make it difficult for you in enemy territory like Trinidad and Tobago. But we did extremely well. We’re very pleased with the medal count. We faced some injuries but managed to work around them and finish the job.”
