Minister for Communications and Works, Kye M. Rymer, said he is very pleased with the results of the meetings at Seatrade Cruise Global 2025.
Rymer led a group of BVI delegates to the event, which included many successful meetings and chances to network with others in the cruise industry.
Although Rymer did not mention any deals made, or any deals potentially in the offing, he was optimistic about outcomes from the cruise summit.
He said, “Our focus on being environmentally friendly and promoting the BVI as a top cruise destination was well received by cruise leaders.” He also said they plan to use these ideas to build a strong and eco-friendly cruise industry for the Territory.
Dean Fahie, Deputy Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority, said the success at Seatrade shows that the BVI is serious about building long-term relationships in the cruise industry.
He said, “We believe these partnerships will help both the BVI and our cruise partners grow and succeed.”
Seatrade Cruise Global 2025 celebrated its 40th anniversary and brought over 11,000 professionals from more than 120 countries to the Miami Beach Convention Center from April 7 to 10.
The BVI group included people from the Ministry of Communications and Works, the BVI Ports Authority, the BVI Tourist Board, and private companies. They met with major players in the cruise industry to build new relationships and strengthen old ones.
The group also went to talks and workshops that shared new ideas and trends in cruise travel. These lessons will help the Virgin Islands stay a top destination while focusing on sustainability and meeting industry needs.
As the Virgin Islands grows its tourism and economy, the government hopes that results from Seatrade Cruise Global 2025 will help shape the Territory’s future in the worldwide cruise business.
