Dana Carvey is back to work following the tragic death of his eldest son, Dex.

The “Wayne’s World” actor, 68, returned to co-host his podcast, “Fly on the Wall” with David Spade on Wednesday and shouted out fans for their unwavering support after his 32-year-old son passed away from an accidental overdose back in November.

“If you’re listening to our podcast, you probably know about my family’s loss,” Carvey said at the opening of the show. “I just wanted to say that the amount of outpouring online and emailing and people I still haven’t been able to call back is incredible.”

Carvey continued, “I thought about this over the holidays and decided to come back to the podcast because I think, you know, it’s a long day when you’re not working and you get in your head. And I think it’s going to be a great break, and I think it’s really cool to laugh.”

“I’m kind of on the pain train,” he added. “You don’t know how long you’re going to be on it or when it will stop or when it will get better. In the meantime, all this kind of stuff is very healthy.”

Dex was an aspiring comedian who opened for his father’s 2016 Netflix special “Straight White Male.” The same year, he also appeared in the short film “Carpool Pandering,” directed by F. Clint DeNisco, opposite Dana.

According to TMZ ,who was the first to report the news, law enforcement sources reported that first responders rushed to his home in Los Angeles around 10 p.m. after a call was received from Dex’s girlfriend Kaylee. His body was found locked in a bathroom and he was unresponsive.

The “SNL” alum and his wife Paula Zwagerman, 62, confirmed the news of their son’s passing via a heartbreaking message on his Instagram account.

“Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old,” the post began. “Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things — music, art, filmmaking, comedy — and pursued all of them passionately.”

“It’s not an exaggeration to say Dex loved life,” the “SNL” alum explained. “And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend Kaylee. Dex was a beautiful person.

“His handmade birthday cards are a treasure,” the post continued. “We will miss him forever. To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers.”

Following Dex’s sudden passing, “Saturday Night Live” sent the couple their support when “Weekend Update” co-anchor Colin Jost held up a sign that read, “We love you Dana and Paula,” at the end of the November episode, which was hosted by Jason Momoa.

“There was so much goodwill out there that was going through me to tell you,” Spade told Carvey on the podcast. “Even Mrs. Farley, Chris’ mom, wrote a letter for me to give to you.”

“It’s very sweet,” Carvey responded although he explained that despite the well wishes, the grieving process is one all must experience alone.

“It’s me and my wife and our son’s private journey. We’re all together. We do a lot of fun things,” he said. “We hike, go to church, you just want to be sure that you keep moving.”

While Carvey was on hiatus, Spade flew solo on the podcast conducting interviews with guests such as Dan Aykroyd, David Byrne, and Michael McKean.
