Joy Behar refused to play Jason Sudeikis’ mom on ‘Ted Lasso’ — here’s why

Joy Behar may be able to dish on “Hot Topics” — but she can’t take the hot weather.

Behar, 81, revealed Wednesday that she didn’t want the role of Jason Sudeikis’ mom on the hit Apple TV+ show “Ted Lasso” due to the fact that the weather in London was too warm for her.

“You were contacted about the possibility to be on my favorite show of all time,” Brian Teta, producer of “The View,” said on the show’s “Behind the Table” podcast.

However, he added that Behar “quickly dismissed” the role.

“It was too hot, you remember? There was a heat wave going on at that time, like 100-degree weather, and I’d have to get on a plane and go in the middle of the heat? No,” Behar said. “Listen, I’m a writer, I write my own stuff, I don’t care about other people’s stuff. I don’t need to be in everything.”

Teta, 47, expressed his disappointment with Behar, stating that the show, which ended in May 2023 after three seasons, was “the hottest show on TV.”

“It was not the hottest show on TV,” Behar disagreed. “If they were doing it in the spring I would’ve done it maybe, or in the fall, but not in the middle of the heat wave.”

Teta later attempted to sway Behar by saying that Becky Ann Baker, who went on to star as Dottie Lasso, received an Emmy nomination for her work in the series’ penultimate episode “Mom City.”

“Well, good for her,” Behar said dryly. “Bravo.”

The Post reached out to Behar for comment.

The longtime “View” host is used to making headlines. Last week, she made waves when she told Gypsy Rose Blanchard that she had “no choice” but to kill her mother.

“If there’s someone out there watching right now, please listen to me [and] heed my words that you are not alone in this situation, there are other ways out. I did it the wrong way,” Blanchard, who was recently released from prison after orchestrating the death of her abusive mother, said during an appearance on the show.

“No, no, no, don’t say that. You had no choice,” Behar said, not realizing that the statement appeared to endorse murder.

“I did. I did something wrong, and I paid my dues for it,” Blanchard, 32, replied.

“Oh, you mean that part,” Behar said, laughing along with the show’s studio audience. “Oh, yeah. Nevermind.”

At that point, her fellow co-hosts Sara Haines, 46, and Ana Navarro, 52, joined in on the conversation.

“Where are you going with this, Joy?” Haines asked, while Navarro chimed in: “Murder is wrong, Joy.”

“Yes, murder is wrong,” reiterated Blanchard.
