Scholarship Awards Ceremony Honors Two Young Women
NIA and MUA Collaboration Supports Tertiary Education Journey
The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) and Medical University of the Americas (MUA) recently conducted an awards ceremony to honour two young women, Ms. Boddie and Ms. Williams, for their academic achievements.
At the ceremony, Minister of Health the Honourable Jahnel Nisbett congratulated the young women, highlighting the government’s willingness to assist them as they embark on their tertiary education journey.
“We are excited to support these two brilliant young women through this scholarship programme,” Minister Nisbett said. “Both veterinary medicine and nutrition are critical areas of importance to the development of Nevis, and we are honoured to partner with the MUA to support their success.”
Dr. Robert Mankoff, MUA Dean of Students and Director of Student Support, acknowledged the university’s role in assisting the young persons.
“We are thrilled and delighted to invest in Nevis and the future through this collaboration,” Dr. Mankoff said. “Our sincerest hope is that Ms. Boddie and Ms. Williams will go on to become wonderful citizens and contribute positively to their country.”
Scholarship Details
The scholarships will provide critical financial support for a period of four years, subject to the recipients maintaining a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. Ms. Boddie will pursue veterinary medicine at the University of the West Indies- St. Augustine Campus, while Ms. Williams will pursue a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at Western Illinois University in the United States.
