Matthew Perry’s death investigation is officially closed: cops

The official investigation into Matthew Perry’s death is now closed.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to People that officials have concluded their probe into the “Friends” actor’s sudden death.

Perry, 54, was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Oct. 28.

The beloved actor, who was propelled to global stardom after landing the role of funnyman Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom, was found submerged and unresponsive in his hot tub.

An autopsy determined that Perry died from “acute effects of ketamine,” with contributing factors listed as “drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects.”

The actor, who had a long and troubled past with addiction, had been receiving ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety, with the last treatment a week and a half before his death, the autopsy report stated.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner also confirmed on their website that the case regarding Perry’s death is considered “closed.”

The medical examiner noted that the drug in his system could not have been from his final session — though it’s unclear where it came from.

Perry had 3.54 micrograms per milliliter of ketamine, which is nearly three times the normal amount, in his bloodstream at the time of his death.

The “Fools Rush In” star had been clean for 19 months before that.

Prescription medications were found at his residence, but no illegal drugs or loose pills were located.

Just days before his death, Perry shared a chilling picture of himself relaxing in a hot tub at his plush property while wearing headphones. 

“Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman,” the actor captioned the Oct. 23 photo on Instagram.

The actor struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for years, estimating at one time that he “probably spent $9 million” trying to get sober.

Perry opened up about his struggles in his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” which marked its first anniversary just days after his untimely death.
