Meghan Markle left Kate Middleton with ‘few people to confide in’ when she quit royal family: expert

Kate Middleton has been left with “very few people to confide in” ever since Meghan Markle quit royal life in 2020, according to a royal expert.

The Princess of Wales, 42, had seemingly formed a close bond with the Duchess of Sussex back when she struck up a romance with Prince Harry.

What’s more, the “Suits” alum, 42, reportedly even sought advice on royal life from Middleton during the early days of their acquaintance.

But after the Sussexes sensationally quit royal life and hightailed it across the pond, their relations with senior members of the royal family soon became nonexistent.

“Being in the royal family is a lonely place and Kate’s got very few people now, especially after the Queen’s death, who she can go to and confide in,” royal author Duncan Larcombe told OK! Magazine.

“The fact that things didn’t work out with Meghan was a real blow because Prince Harry’s bride would have been another person stuck in the same situation. Think back to when Diana and Fergie were always giggling and would help each other let off steam… Kate hasn’t got that.”

“I’m sure that the two ladies will be in close contact; there’s a definite channel of communication between the Queen and the Queen-in-waiting,” Larcombe added.

Elsewhere, royal expert Jennie Bond echoed Larcombe’s sentiment, saying that the Princess of Wales does not have many confidants within the royal fold.

“One reason Kate has made such a success of her royal role is because she has a strong inner circle – and it extends way beyond her parents and siblings,” Bond told the outlet.

“But sometimes your oldest friends — who’ve been with you through thick and thin — are just the ticket. Kate has maintained deep friendships with several of her school mates, who obviously knew her way before royalty came her way so they’ll know just how to help.”

Ever since the Sussexes sat down with Oprah Winfrey for their explosive tell-all interview in 2021, Middleton has not found it in her heart to forgive Markle for the “damage” caused.

Sources close to Middleton said that she saw the bombshell interview as the “ultimate betrayal” by Markle.

The relationship between the Sussexes and the Firm took a turn for the worse when Harry released his protocol-shattering tell-all memoir, “Spare,” in January 2023.

In the book, he branded his older brother, Prince William, his “arch-nemesis,” accused the royal family of mistreating Markle, and revealed private details of Markle and Middleton’s wedding dress-fitting dustup.

The book’s release coincided with the pair’s Netflix docuseries, in which they detail why they decided to step back from royal duties in 2020.

Most recently, Harry dished on his father King Charles’ health woes since his cancer diagnosis was announced earlier this month.

In an interview with “Good Morning America,” Harry, 39, hinted that the King’s cancer diagnosis could have a “reunifying effect” on his family.

“I think any illness, any sickness brings families together,” he said. “Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”

It’s since been said that the royal family was “not thrilled” over Harry’s decision to speak about his father’s health on national television.
