Melissa Barrera reunites with ‘Scream’ co-stars after firing
The “Scream” family is back together once again.
Several cast members from the hit horror franchise reunited at the Motion Picture & Television Fund’s The Evening Before gala on Sunday.
The gathering comes just months after alums Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega left the seventh installment of the series.
The “In The Heights” actress, 33, posted an Instagram pic of herself alongside stars Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Liana Liberato, Tony Revolori, Skeet Ulrich and Jack Quaid.
“Yeah 😍,” she simply captioned the snapshot.
“Sweet reunion!!” Ulrich, 53, commented.
Quaid, 31, chimed in: “HELL yeah!”
“I just love ya,” Gooding, 27, added, while Liberato, 28, penned: “oooooh yeah.”
Barrera and Ortega, 21, who starred as sisters Samantha and Tara Carpenter, respectively, in last year’s “Scream 6,” left the seventh film in November.
Barrera was fired after she made controversial comments on social media about the Israel-Hamas war.
Just a short time later, it was announced that the “Wednesday” star would not be appearing in “Scream 7” due to scheduling conflicts with Season 2 of her Netflix show.
After her exit, Barrera released a statement.
“First and foremost I condemn Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. I condemn hate and prejudice of any kind against any group of people,” she wrote on her Instagram story.
“As a latina, a proud Mexicana, I feel the responsibility of having a platform that allows me the privilege of being heard, and therefore I have tried to use it to raise awareness about issues I care about and to lend my voice to those in need,” she went on.
She added: “Every person on this earth — regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or socio-economic status — deserves equal human rights, dignity and, of course, freedom.”
“Scream VII” director Christopher Landon then announced he was leaving the slasher flick late last month.
“I guess now is as good a time as any to announce I formally exited Scream 7 weeks ago,” Landon, 48, wrote on X. “This will disappoint some and delight others. It was a dream job that turned into a nightmare.”
“And my heart did break for everyone involved. Everyone. But it’s time to move on,” he tweeted.
