Kaliyah Jones Debut Perfomance

Kaliyah Jones, a freshman athlete from Monroe University, has made her debut in the Women’s 500m event, copping fifth place overall with a time of 1:18.44 seconds at the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartan Invite, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday.
Her Impressive Performance
Jones’ impressive performance has qualified her for the 2025 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 600m (1:38.84) event, to be held in Lubbock, Texas.
Coach’s Praise
Nevisian Coach Shirvon Greene expressed his satisfaction with Kaliyah’s debut performance, stating that she has been working hard all season and has made significant progress. He praised her dedication, citing that she sacrificed her Christmas break to put in extra work.
Coach’s Assessment
Despite being new to the event and feeling nervous, Kaliyah held her own against more experienced athletes, including sophomores and seniors. Coach Greene acknowledged that there is still much work to be done, but he is satisfied with Kaliyah’s execution of her race.
