Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion feud: Astrology’s role

0

The “Hiss” is high and the heat is on, folks.

Under the waning light of the full moon in Leo and just days after death daddy planet Pluto moved into Aquarius, former collaborators Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion began their latest war of words.

How did these two rap legends go from “Hot Girl Summer” to cruel, cruel winter?

It’s a story of crossed stars and karmic reckoning, folks.

On Jan. 26, Megan released her single “Hiss,” a banger track that lights up haters, hangers-on, fake friends and dudes with weak d–k game.

“Hiss” also includes the incendiary lyric, “These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law. I don’t really know what the problem is, but I guarantee y’all don’t want me to start.”

Oh, but start SHE has.

Nicki and Megan drama — this means war

Fans and most notably Minaj, herself, interpreted Megan’s lyrics as an arrow aimed at Minaj’s husband and/or older brother.

Megan’s Law requires states to make information about sex offenders available to the public.

Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, convicted of first-degree attempted rape in 1995, was arrested in 2020 when he failed to register as a sex offender in California.

In 2022, Minaj was dropped from a lawsuit alleging that she harassed Petty’s sexual assault victim.

There’s more horror.

Minaj’s older brother, Jelani Maraj, was convicted of predatory sexual assault for the repeated rape of his 11-year-old stepdaughter and was sentenced in 2020 to 25 years to life in prison.

While Minaj did not attend the proceedings to support her brother, she wrote a letter in 2016 referring to him as the “most patient, gentle, genuine, giving selfless man I know.”

Maraj’s lawyer read the letter in court ahead of his sentencing.

As the brilliant astrologer and therapist Nathalie Dadjé notes of this feud, while we cannot control the behavior of people, “We can choose the position that we take on the issue by making it clear where we stand.”

In this sense, Megan appears to be calling Minaj out not for the crimes of men close to her, but for her willingness to defend/palliate them.

Minaj wasted no time hitting back at “Hiss,” releasing her track “Big Foot” days later.

The song makes light of Megan being shot in the foot by Tory Lanez. As Minaj raps, “Bad b—h, she like 6 foot. I call her big foot. The b—h fell off. I said, get up on your good foot.”

Minaj goes on to suggest Megan is unlovable, lied about getting liposuction, and pays ghostwriters for her music.

Why tho?

Minaj has Mercury in quick-to-speak Sagittarius. Evan Agostini/Invision/AP

Born on Dec. 8, 1982, Minaj has a Sagittarius stellium with her sun, Mercury, Venus, Uranus and Neptune in the mutable fire sign.

Megan was born on Feb. 15, 1995, making her an Aquarius sun with a Capricorn stellium. The elemental differences between these two women are evident in their approach to feuding.

Aquarius (Megan) leverages the intellectual over the emotional, while Sagittarius (Minaj) is prone to soapbox flare-ups and lashing out.

Neither Sagittarius nor Aquarius is known for its ability to apologize, so don’t expect a mea culpa from either party.

It’s worthwhile to note that neither Sagittarius nor Aquarius is known for openness to giving or receiving an apology, so don’t expect a mea culpa from either party.

As an aside and as an avowed fan of Big Freedia, I’m waiting with bated breath to see Megan collaborate with the Aquarius Queen Diva on a remix of the latter’s bop “Bigfoot.”

Stand tall, stay paid.

Precise vs. petty

When it comes to self-expression, we look to Mercury, the planet of the mind and the mouth. Minaj has Mercury in flippant, restless Sagittarius, while Megan’s Mercury falls in agenda-pushing, smarter than you, truth as the means to progress Aquarius.

The qualities and expression of Mercury are apparent in the tactics of this feud — and the lyrical carnage it has produced.

In “Hiss,” Megan seems to call into question Minaj’s stance on sexual abuse and victim’s rights.

An Aquarius cuts surgically cool and close to the bone, while a Sagittarius, once provoked, is prone to verbosely throwing stones.

Meanwhile, Minaj cracks jokes about domestic violence, takes cheap shots at Megan’s appearance, and brings up her dead mother (a lot).

As exhibited, an Aquarius cuts surgically cool and close to the bone, while a Sagittarius, once provoked, is prone to verbosely throwing stones. Archers tend to shoot off at the mouth, racing to make a point or argue another without truly considering the message or consequence.

In archetypical fashion, rebel-rousing Aquarius Megan incited a conversation/maelstrom with a single sentence, while Sag Minaj hit back with a deluge of social media posts and a rushed, fevered with hate, not afraid to invoke your ancestors diss track.

‘Tis a case of the precise versus the petty, folks.

Women at war

Minaj has Mars in Capricorn. while Megan has Mars in Leo.

When it comes to understanding conflict, astrologers look to the placement of Mars, the planet of war, in the birth chart.

Minaj has Mars in Capricorn — a sign concerned with leaving a legacy and best understood as “winning” at any price, even and especially when the losses are great. Mars in Cap is no stranger to war, but can be deeply problematic when it comes to choosing what and who to fight for/against.

Meanwhile, Megan has Mars in Leo — a sign that recognizes all press as good press and seeks to illuminate through conflict and assert itself as a regal being through its handling of it.

Why now?

Minaj is experiencing a difficult astrological transit. Getty Images

Minaj’s Saturn-punishing planet of karmic lessons and restrictions is forming an EXACT and exacting square with Pluto in Aquarius. Pluto rules death, destruction, and regeneration, and in Aquarius, the dwarf planet is concerned with progress through the dismantlement of the structures of old.

For Minaj, this transit is about foundational transformation — deep reflection and shadow confrontation, exhuming what’s been buried, restructuring, releasing, and atoning.

I hold out hope that this transit and this latest conflict can be a turning point for Minaj, one that encourages her to examine her relationship with public platforms, power, systems of abuse, and victim advocacy.

There’s never been a better time to be better — and with the future of the feud a question mark, I’m dreaming of the day these two titans reunite on a track, pooling their collective power for greater purposes.
