‘Worst time of my life’

If she could have, she would have quit.

Dakota Johnson opened up about her time filming a guest role on “The Office” for the show’s series finale during her Wednesday, February 7, appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers.

During the interview, the 34-year-old hilariously reminisced about the gig and admitted she might not be cut out for a 9-5.

“That was honestly the worst time of my life,” Johnson joked. “I love that show so much, and they were like, ‘Do you want to be in the series finale?’ and I was like, ‘Of course,’ thinking that I’d show up for, like, half a day. I was there for two weeks and I’m barely in the f–king show.”

For the episode aired on NBC in May 2013, Johnson played an employee named Dakota, ironically. Her character is hired by Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) at the office to replace Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) after he was fired for his lack of professionalism after making up numbers to balance the spreadsheets.

Despite being a huge fan of the show, the “Madame Web” star admitted that it was sad being on set for the final episode.

“They were sad,” she explained of the cast. “And also, like, there were weird dynamics that had been going on for the last 10 years.”

Apparently, like any real life office, not all of the colleagues got along behnd the scenes.

“Some people didn’t speak to each other,” she explained. “And I’m coming in like ‘So excited to be here!’ No one wanted to talk to me. No one gave a f f–k. I was like in the background of all of these scenes, faxing things.”

Johnson then apologized to Meyers for cursing so much blaming on the fact that she” had a glass of champagne.”

Meyers, 50, then quipped they needed to blame her cursing on the “f–king ‘Office.’”

“The Office” ran for nine seasons, debuting on March 24, 2005. In addition to Wilson, the original main cast members included Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, and B.J. Novak.

For the finale, many of the stars that had appeared during the comedy’s run returned to bid the show farewell such as Mindy Kalling, BIll Hader and Ellie Kemper.

Despite Johnson’s minor role, she was proud that she appeared in many of the finale’s scenes, doing traditional office work in the background.

“Can I tell you I recently watched it, and it was some of the most believable faxing I’ve ever seen,” Seth stated. “And a lot of people I think mail it in when they’re in the background of those shows.”

In 2021, in a Hollywood Reporter interview, she revealed the “Office” appearance done to set up a spin-off that she would star in, but unfortunately, the show never happened.

“If everything else just falls away, maybe you’ll find me in that ‘Office’ spinoff that no one wants to watch,” she said at the time. “I don’t know in what world that would’ve worked for me creatively. I have found that when something is successful, even when there’s nothing left, they just keep trying to wring out the towel of story. Sometimes things need to end when they’re supposed to end.”
